This Beautiful 1964 Thunderbolt Replica won 1st place in the nostalgia class at the 64th Grand National Roadster Show. The $120,000 dollars spent on restoring this car was worth every penny. The Monster Big Block V8 was built to authentic R-code full-size specs, this 427 cubic inch top-oiler V8 professionally Balanced and blueprinted by Costa Mesa R&D Automotive Machine of Costa Mesa, California. It has been decked, line-bored, cylinder-bored, balanced and blue printed, the .018-over monster is topped by a finned Thunderbird air cleaner and “BK” and “BJ” coded 600cfm Holleys 4-BBL carbs, an aluminum medium riser intake , dual-point distributor, electronic ignition, polished valve covers, ported Edelbrock heads, solid lifters, custom Trend pushrods, cam-matched springs, hardened rocker shafts, custom stainless stands, Lunati Street/Strip profile cam, Keith Black pistons, forged H-beam rods and a balanced and chamfered 428 crank, long-tube headers, factory radiator, aluminum water pump, factory expansion tank and a correct, 6-blade pulley fan, blueprinted Melling oil pump, Cloyes double timing components, SFI harmonic balancer 1965 Ford alternator. It has 551 ft Lbs of torque and 522HP.
The transmission is a Galaxie “HEH” Toploader, with a SMI flywheel and 11-inch Centerforce clutch with a new yoke and Lakewood scattershield, a correctly marked driveshaft, powder-coated third member, with a Traction-Lok differential, Dutchman 31-spline axles and NHRA-legal lug bolts and CalTracs traction bars. It has custom-mounted Bostrom buckets, correctly stitched in red vinyl, feature thick, 2-point safety harnesses, a polished Rotunda tachometer, polished Stewart Warner accessory gauges, and radio and heater deletes, red loop carpet, Hurst shifter. Original style headliner and sun visors, Original steering wheel. This car was completely disassembled and media blasted and reassembled using restored or new parts. The show quality 2 stage Wimbledon white paint is in beautiful shape as you can see in the pictures it has a fiberglass “bubble” hood and front bumper.
